American Chopper: The Series - Season One (DVD)

The Discovery Channel did a favor for the reality TV genre when it introduced the Teutel family, injecting it with new life chopper frame and a volatile appeal. The Teutels own Orange County Choppers--that's New York, not California--and the patriarch, Paul Sr., runs the business with a loud, commanding presence chopper frame and a temper that threatens to flare up at any moment. The drama revolves around this possiblillity of explosion as the guys endeavor to create their massive machines while constrained by a deadline; under the gun, they manage to build elaborate, innovative, highly-customized choppers that resemble nothing so much as sculpture on wheels. Paul Jr. is the creative mind behind his father's bluster, chopper frame and both are intimidating to behold, epitomizing the chopper lifestyle in every respect. In the first season, Mikey gets a chance to build his own bike, master fabricator Cody collaborates on his design with Paul Sr., chopper frame and the Teutels spend quality time together, Teutel-style. The notorious Teutel family are back to wreak a second season of mayhem on the Discovery Channel's popular reality series. The family own chopper frame and run Orange County Choppers in New York State, a top-notch shop that turns out highly customized, unique motorcycles that resemble sculptures in their pristine construction. The head honcho of the shop is Paul Sr., the epitome of the vociferous, obnoxious biker outlaw, who runs the shop with an iron fist. It is the possibility that Paul might explode at any moment that lends the show much of its suspense. Paul Jr. is the creative brains behind much of the work that is done, while Mikey is the slacker help who does as little work as possible. All of the characters epitomize the intimidating image of bikers held by most people, which makes the drama that much more fascinating when they show emotion or crack under pressure.
